应煤转化国家重点实验室副主任白进研究员和院青促会煤化所小组邀请，澳大利亚联邦科学与工业研究组织能源技术研究科学家Alexander Ilyushechkin博士来实验室访问，并做题为“Recent Research in Brown Coal Slagging Behavior under Gasification Conditions”的学术报告。
Gasification of brown coals is one of the most important routes to utilize low-rank coal in the environmentally friendly manner. In order to use brown coal in entrained flow gasification, mineral matter behavior and slagging characteristics have to be known and properly managed.
Australian brown coal ashes represent the various ranges of primary phase fields in multicomponent system. In our earlier work on slagging characteristics of brown coal ashes, brown coal ashes were grouped on the basis of the concentrations of major element oxides, such as SiO2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, and Fe2O3. We found that some of the silica-rich and or CaO-rich slags can be used alone in entrained flow gasifier, while high iron and magnesium slags and some high alumina slags could be used only in coal blends with high silica coals. The effect of sodium on slag viscosity was also investigated.
Recently we focused our research on brown coal slags from spinel primary phase field, which have suitable slagging characteristics such as liquids temperatures below gasifier operating, and viscosities are in the range of slag tapping viscosity. This talk presents our recent research on viscosity of these slags, conducted at CSIRO Energy by gasification team with ICC CAS visiting PhD students.
