个人简介：

Eric van Steen is the South African Research Chair (SARChI) in Reaction Engineering at the University of Cape Town. He is a Fellow of the University of Cape Town and the South African Academy of Engineering. Professor Eric van Steen is an expert in reactor design and chemical engineering thermodynamics. His research focuses on defining the window of operation for heterogeneously catalyzed reactions, such as the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, selective oxidations, and photo-catalytic conversions, using both experimental and DFT-related techniques. Furthermore, he develops model systems to gain better understanding of the functioning of promoters within catalysts. He has recently written a book on Renewable Energy in the Process Industry (Wiley, 2025/2026) based on a course he initiated at the University of Cape Town.
